Pentapeptide-3 (trade name Vialox) is a five-amino-acid synthetic oligopeptide specially developed to relieve dynamic expression wrinkles. It acts as a competitive antagonist of peripheral acetylcholine receptors, weakening neuromuscular excitability, reducing facial muscle contraction intensity, thereby smoothing crow's feet, forehead lines and frown lines without injection. Meanwhile, it activates TGF-β signal pathway of fibroblasts, boosts synthesis of type I collagen and laminin-5, inhibits MMPs collagen-degrading enzymes, strengthens epidermal-dermal junction, improves skin elasticity and compactness.
