Product Description

100% Pure Castor Oil is a natural viscous carrier oil mechanically cold-pressed from the ripe seeds of Ricinus communis. The cold pressing process avoids high-temperature decomposition and hexane solvent residues, fully retaining the natural fatty acid composition of raw castor seeds. Its most unique marker component is ricinoleic acid, accounting for roughly 85–90% of total fatty acids, which differentiates castor oil from most common vegetable carrier oils.

This oil presents as a thick, flowable liquid at room temperature, with faint characteristic nutty plant odour. Minor batch-to-batch colour variation can appear due to seed harvest season, drying procedure and refining degree, and all deviations are kept within commercial acceptable range against reference sample. Each production lot completes full sensory and physicochemical testing before release. The hydroxyl group in ricinoleic acid grants castor oil special wetting, emulsifying and dispersing performance, giving it wide adaptability in cosmetic, fragrance and industrial formulation.

Application Fields

◆ Personal Care & Cosmetics

Classic carrier oil for hair care, scalp pre-wash treatment, eyelash & eyebrow serum, cuticle oil, body massage oil, cream, balm and solid perfume base. It softens dry hair, reduces hair breakage and relieves rough dry skin.

◆ Fragrance Formulation

Used as carrier base for diluting essential oils and absolutes; helps slow fragrance evaporation and stabilise oil-phase scent formula.

◆ Home Care

Incorporated into soap making, candle formulation and household polishing products, serves as humectant and emulsifying auxiliary material.

◆ Industrial Application

Raw material for lubricant, bioplastic and surfactant derivatives, widely used in coating and textile processing.

FAQ

Q1: Why is castor oil much thicker than other carrier oils?
A1: Its high ricinoleic acid content with hydroxyl fatty acid structure brings naturally high viscosity. Pure undiluted castor oil maintains thick texture at ambient temperature.

Q2: What is the difference between cold-pressed castor oil and heat refined castor oil?
A2: Cold-pressed version uses only mechanical pressure, no hexane solvent, preserves natural nutrients and preferred for cosmetic topical use. Heat refined oil is usually for industrial usage.

Q3: Can pure castor oil be applied directly to skin and hair?
A3: It is for external use only. Direct undiluted application is acceptable for targeted local care; for large-area body massage, blending with lighter carrier oil is recommended to reduce heavy sticky feeling.

Q4: What causes rancidity of castor oil?
A4: Long exposure to air, high temperature and strong sunlight trigger oxidation. Once rancid, the oil will produce unpleasant odour and should be discarded.

Q5: Is castor oil suitable to blend with essential oils?
A5: Yes, it is a widely used carrier base. It mixes well with most essential oils and absolutes, and helps prolong scent retention on skin.

Q6: What causes colour difference between different batches?
A6: Seed maturity, rainfall during planting and post-harvest drying conditions affect colour. Slight colour shift within specification range belongs to normal natural product variation.

Q7: How long can the oil be stored after opening?
A7: After opening, seal tightly and finish consumption within 12 months. Minimize repeated opening and long-time air exposure.

Q8: Is this product edible?
A8: This cosmetic grade castor oil is for external application only. Food grade can be supplied upon separate request and must comply with local food regulations.
