Product Description

Labdanum absolute oil is a precious natural resinous absolute extracted from the sticky gum of rockrose shrubs native to the Mediterranean region. Unlike essential oils obtained by steam distillation, solvent extraction preserves heavy, low-volatile resinous substances, delivering a deep, rich, complex aroma profile. Its scent carries warm amber, smoky leather and sweet balsamic undertones, with subtle earthy and dry herbal hints. It possesses outstanding fixative properties, capable of anchoring volatile top and middle notes in fragrance blends and extending the lasting power of finished scents.

Minor differences in colour, viscosity and odour are normal, caused by harvest season, growing climate and resin maturity. All batch variations are controlled within commercial specification ranges. Each batch passes sensory assessment and physicochemical testing to guarantee consistent quality and good compatibility with fragrance and cosmetic raw materials.

FAQ

Q1: What is the difference between labdanum absolute and labdanum essential oil?
A1: Labdanum absolute is solvent extracted from rockrose resin, heavier, richer with strong fixative ability. Labdanum essential oil is steam distilled, lighter aroma with less resinous components and weaker fixation.

Q2: Why is labdanum absolute so viscous?
A2: It contains high content of natural resin and heavy sesquiterpene compounds, which lead to thick viscous property. Warming slightly before use will help fluidity.

Q3: Can labdanum absolute be used directly on skin?
A3: Not recommended for undiluted direct skin contact. It should be diluted with carrier oil before topical application for cosmetics and aromatherapy.

Q4: What fragrance family is labdanum absolute best suited for?
A4: It is a core raw material for amber, chypre, oriental and woody fragrances, frequently matched with vanilla, sandalwood, patchouli and oakmoss substitutes.

Q5: Why colour varies slightly between batches?
A5: Raw resin quality is affected by rainfall, harvest time and rockrose growth condition. Slight colour deviation is natural and acceptable within specification.

Q6: Is labdanum absolute the natural alternative to ambergris?
A6: Yes, its warm, animalic-amber character makes it the most popular natural substitute for ambergris in modern perfumery.

Q7: Will labdanum absolute get solidified in cold environment?
A7: Partial crystallization or thickening may occur under low temperature. Warm gently and stir evenly, the quality will not be damaged.

Q8: What is the suggested adding dosage in candle and perfume?
A8: For fine perfume: 0.5% - 3%. For scented candle: 0.2% -1.5%. Exact dosage depends on target fragrance design.
